Henderson Elementary Hosts Second Saturday Tree Care Day in March

Twelves volunteers spent a few hours on the morning of Saturday, March 10th to give some TLC to the trees planted by the Benicia Tree Foundation at Henderson Elementary School back in 2012.  The trees have been living on rainfall alone since 2015, and almost all survived the drought.  We try to visit our tree planting projects annually to check on their growth.  Tasks this year at the Henderson project site included rebuilding trees wells to help each tree capture as much rainfall as possible, and mulching around the trees to help retain soil moisture.  Some of the trees were pruned.  Nine of our volunteers are shown in the photo below standing in front of a Deodara cedar planted as part of the Henderson tree planting project.
